《被牺牲的“局部”：淮北社会生态变迁研究（1680—1949）》为区域社会经济史的经典著作，初版于2011年北京大学出版社。自问世以来即引起广泛地影响，颇受好评，具有极高的学术价值。今次作者全面修订，在以往的基础上又多加考证、爬疏，使所用材料更加准确与丰富。
本书结合历史文献资料和作者多年来所做的田野调查，主要分析了自清以来至民国前期中央政府所制定的政策对淮北地区所产生的交互影响，着重考察淮北地区人类活动，特别是政府行为和官僚意志对淮北社会生态变迁的影响。作者分析了治水、漕运和盐务等政策对淮北的地理、河道、水文、物产、民性及经济结构与社会结构等的塑造、影响及作用。作者所讨论的空间范围，包括苏北、皖北、鲁西南在内的淮河下游地区，分别从漕运、盐业、农业、民生等面描述了淮北社会在中央政府基于政治权力的实际运作下，如何从唐宋时代的鱼米之乡演变为后来的穷乡瘠壤。除此之外，本书还对上述这一时期淮北的社会结构和社会形态的衰变及平民的生活状态也做了细致地考察和分析，进一步论证了清至民国前期中央政府在“顾全大局”的政治思维下所制定的政策对淮北地区的巨大影响。

马俊亚，南京大学历史系教授、博士生导师。获江苏省“333工程"人才、教育部新世纪优秀人才、2019年度教育部长江学者特聘教授等称号。主要研究方向为中国近现代社会经济史和区域社会生态史。曾兼任台湾政治大学客座教授、安徽大学特聘教授等职。

The Sacrificial "Part" : A Study of Social and Ecological Changes in Huaibei (1680-1949) is a classic work of regional social and economic history, first published in 2011 by Peking University Press. Since its publication, it has caused extensive influence, received high praise, and has high academic value. This time, the author made a comprehensive revision, and on the basis of the past, more research and crawling, so that the materials used are more accurate and rich.
Based on the historical documents and the fieldwork done by the author over the years, this book mainly analyzes the interactive impact of the policies formulated by the central government on Huaibei from the Qing Dynasty to the early period of the Republic of China, and focuses on the impact of human activities, especially government behavior and bureaucratic will, on the social and ecological changes in Huaibei. The author analyzes the shaping, influence and effect of the policies of water control, water transport and salt affairs on the geography, river course, hydrology, property, people, economic structure and social structure of Huaibei. The spatial scope discussed by the author, including the lower reaches of the Huaihe River in northern Jiangsu, northern Anhui and southwest Shandong, describes how Huaibei society changed from a land of fish and rice in the Tang and Song dynasties to a poor land under the actual operation of the central government based on political power from the aspects of water transport, salt industry, agriculture and people's livelihood. In addition, the book also makes a detailed investigation and analysis of the social structure and the decay of social forms and the living conditions of the common people in Huaibei during this period, and further demonstrates the great impact of the policies formulated by the central government from the Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China under the political thinking of "taking the overall situation into consideration" on the Huaibei area.
About the author
Ma Junya, Professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of History, Nanjing University. He was awarded the titles of "333 Project" Talents of Jiangsu Province, Outstanding Talents of the Ministry of Education in the New Century, and Special Professor of Changjiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education in 2019. His research interests are social and economic history of modern China and regional social and ecological history. He served as a visiting professor at Taiwan Chengchi University and a distinguished professor at Anhui University.
