Content introduction
When My Father Forgot Me: Secret Farewell is one of Xue Shu's "Two pieces of life", a long non-fiction work she created in 2014, documenting her father's life after suffering from Alzheimer's disease, from the early symptoms, to the onset, and then to the overall decline of intelligence, in a period of five years, with "Father forgets me" as the node. In fact, my father has completed a complete farewell to his family and loved ones at the spiritual level. While recording and describing the comprehensive changes in his father's body, temperament and intelligence, the author intersperses memories of his childhood, imagination of his father's era, meditation on life, illness and death, and the complex and indescribable love within a Chinese family. The turning point of a person's personal fate is also a huge change of a family. The author leads us from the microscopic perspective of a daughter and family to the current situation of the aging of the whole society.
