Content introduction
In 1798, the economist Thomas Malthus predicted that the world would soon run out of food because the linear growth of food production could no longer feed the exponential growth of the population. Fast forward 200 years, the world's population has grown nearly tenfold, we're getting closer to colonizing Mars, and food isn't running out, it's getting more abundant.
It is innovation that has made this miracle happen - innovation driven by mass digitization and the convergence of exponentially growing technologies. In From Malthus to Mars, Nicolai Chan Nielsen and Russ Tvedder, based on years of research and business practice, paint a picture of the future of life that is changing at an accelerating pace, from anti-aging, intensive agriculture, robotics, new energy solutions, to fast, dynamic, and flexible organizational management strategies. Specific predictions are made about how upcoming technologies will change our world.
We will also start from the core question of how the world has evolved, by exploring the underlying forces that have driven each of these changes to take place, and by understanding how these changes have created great opportunities in the past, to better grasp the historic opportunities of a time of upheaval.
