The Autobiography of Aronson

How did Aronson, a shy, modest boy who grew up in a poor neighborhood without money or power, become a world-renowned social psychologist? The "stupid boy" who admired Harvard University in his youth became a professor at Harvard University ten years later? In this book, Aronson uses his own experience to illustrate the truth of social psychology: that both individuals and societies can evolve for the better, and that one can, unfettered by unpleasant childhood experiences and personality flaws, achieve the possible self through self-improvement.

In this book, Aronson traces his half-century of teaching and research to see how vibrant and creative scientific research is born out of social problems. In addition, you will read about Aronson's experiences and stories of major historical events such as his activism for fair housing laws, death threats, protests for defending Arthur Johnson's right to free speech, and accusations of being a "racist," and you will find that he is not only a gifted social psychology experimentalist, but also an educator dedicated to the communication of psychology. An activist who cares about the vulnerable groups of society, a great thinker with the world in mind. Aronson's Autobiography will give us a deeper understanding of self, society, and humanity. Reading this biography, we will have the opportunity to talk to the master directly and feel his spirit of independent thinking and humanistic feelings.

In addition to presenting Aronson's legendary life from an ordinary student to a great psychologist, this book also gives us a chance to glimpse the stories behind various classic studies and feel what the life of a psychologist is like. From the poor boy in the slums to the revered master, from perfecting the theory of cognitive dissonance to popularizing the "puzzle class," this book is both an autobiography of the master and a history of social psychology. Through Aronson's emotional telling, we can understand how Aronson's research was inspired, and what kind of confusion and exploration went through, and we can return to the golden age of social psychology. Feel the vivid descriptions of many of the masters of psychology in the book, and feel their personality charm outside of academic research. Content introduction
