《走进中国城市内部》内容简介
本书是历史学家王笛关于中国城市历史研究的理论和方法的总结。该书一反作者过去实证和个案研究的风格，把历史研究的具体问题放到更抽象的层次上。宏观与微观、利用文学和图像作为历史研究资料的方法论、新文化史的取向、大众文化与精英文化的关系，以及新城市史研究的路径、城市文化与公共空间研究的基本概念、日常生活与公共空间的关系等等，书里面对这些问题进行了系统的讨论。本书显示了作者深厚的人文关怀和史学素养，我们得以了解王笛那些脍炙人口的专题研究后面的深层思考，让我们看到那些理论是怎样转化为实证和经典的个案研究的。在结论部分，作者比较了柯布西耶、芒福德和雅各布斯对城市发展的三种不同理念，对我们今天认识中国城市皆有非常大的启发。第一编《书写城市的日常史诗》是专为此次修订而写。
作者简介
王笛
澳门大学历史系讲席教授，曾任美国得克萨斯A&M大学历史系教授。美国约翰斯•霍普金斯大学历史学博士。
主要关注中国社会史、城市史、新文化史、日常生活史和微观史的研究。
学术代表作有《跨出封闭的世界》、《街头文化》（中文版和英文版）、《茶馆》（两卷本，中文版和英文版）、《袍哥》（中文版和英文版）、《历史的微声》、《从计量、叙事到文本解读》，著有历史非虚构作品《那间街角的茶铺》、《消失的古城》、《碌碌有为》。
其作品2005和2019年两次荣获美国城市历史学会（UHA）最佳著作奖，并获首届吕梁文学奖、单向街书店文学奖、《亚洲周刊》“2022年全球华人十大好书”等奖项。
"Into the inner city of China" content introduction
This book is a summary of historian Wang Di's theories and methods on the study of Chinese urban history. In contrast to the author's empirical and case study style of the past, the book puts the specific problems of historical research on a more abstract level. Macro and micro, the methodology of using literature and images as historical research materials, the orientation of new cultural history, the relationship between mass culture and elite culture, the path of new urban history research, the basic concepts of urban culture and public space research, the relationship between daily life and public space, etc., are systematically discussed in the book. This book shows the author's profound humanistic care and historical literacy, allowing us to understand the deep thinking behind Wang Di's popular thematic studies, and to see how those theories are translated into empirical and classic case studies. In the conclusion part, the author compares three different ideas of urban development of Le Corbusier, Mumford and Jacobs, which have great inspiration for our understanding of Chinese cities today. The first volume, The Daily Epic of Writing the City, was written specifically for this revision.
About the author
Wang Di
Professor of History, University of Macau, former Professor of History, Texas A&M University. D. in history, Johns Hopkins University.
It mainly focuses on the research of Chinese social history, urban history, new culture history, daily life history and micro history.
His academic masterpieces include "Stepping Out of the Closed World", "Street Culture" (Chinese and English versions), "Teahouse" (two volumes, Chinese and English versions), "Brother the Monk" (Chinese and English versions), "The Micro Voice of History", "From measurement, Narrative to Text Interpretation", and his historical non-fiction works "The Tea Shop on the Corner", "The Ancient City That Disappeared", "Mediating".
His works won the Best Book Award of the American Urban History Society (UHA) twice in 2005 and 2019, and won the first Luliang Literature Award, One Way Street Bookstore Literature Award, Asia Week's "Top 10 Global Chinese Books in 2022" and other awards.
