Introduction to the Geographical Hub of History
The book includes two papers by Ha Mackinder (1861-1947), The Scope and Method of Geography and the Geographical Pivot of History, which are classics in the field of geography. Among them, The Geographical Hub of History laid the academic foundation of modern British geography. The author reviews history from a geographical perspective and tries to clarify the interrelationship between geography and history. The book describes the natural features of the region bordering Europe and Asia in Russia and Eastern Europe, illustrates the formation and extent of this hub region, and presents the "heartland" theory from a global perspective for the first time. This paper opens up a new field of geography - political geography.
