Kieron Narayan is Emeritus Professor in the School of Culture, History and Languages at the Australian National University, a member of the Selection committee of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, and a former Professor of anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received the Distinguished Teaching Award. Her first book, Storytellers, Saints, and Villains: Folk Narratives Taught by Indian Teachers, won the American Anthropological Association's inaugural Victor Turner Award for Ethnographic Writing.
