《早上四，晚上三》电影《邪不压正》原著作者张北海在八十高龄时，开始书写自己一生的故事。作者在自序中提到“什么动物早上四，晚上三”，谜底即是“人”，这本书就是他的“早上四，晚上三”。

　　抗战时期，父亲不愿向日本人投降，母亲不得已带着几个孩子从天津向后方撤离，跨过黄河，抵达西安，最后一家人在重庆团聚；少年桀骜不驯、被父亲赶出家门，见证了台湾五十年代光怪陆离的社会；二哥是宋美龄的专机飞行员，因飞机失事英年早逝，留下一个女儿，就是日后大名鼎鼎的张艾嘉；成为联合国官员，在世界各地工作周游，拥有独一无二的见闻经历；及至暮年，重回山西老家，探寻故里人情；在风烛之年与初恋重逢。

　　人生就是这样，相聚一场，欢欢乐乐，然后曲终人散。这些简洁平静的文字含有洞明世事的豁达与幽默，也是一位老顽童留给世间最后的礼物。

　　作者简介

　　张北海，本名张文艺，祖籍山西五台，1936年生于北京，长在台北，工读洛杉矶，任职联合国，退隐纽约，著作随缘。

　　1970年代起，张北海的家成了初抵纽约的华人了解这座城市的必到之地。阿城、陈丹青、张大春、王安忆、李安、张艾嘉、罗大佑、李宗盛等人，都是从他的客厅里认识纽约的。1990年代，从联合国退休后，张北海转而虚构《侠隐》，写尽出生地老北京的无限风情。文笔老道，笔下风流，既透露出他骨子里的中国气质，又显示出十足的洋派作风。这部小说被姜文改编为电影《邪不压正》。

　　2022年8月，张北海仙逝于纽约。

About the author
Zhang Beihai, real name Zhang Wenyi, ancestral home in Wutai, Shanxi Province, was born in Beijing in 1936, grew up in Taipei, worked in Los Angeles, served in the United Nations, retired from New York, and wrote about the fate.
Since the 1970s, Zhang Beihai's home has become a must-visit place for Chinese newcomers to New York to learn about the city. Ah Cheng, Chen Danqing, Zhang Dachun, Wang Anyi, Lee Ang, Zhang Aijia, Law Dayou, Jonathan Lee and others all got to know New York from his living room. In the 1990s, after retiring from the United Nations, Zhang Beihai turned to the fictional "Man Hidden", writing about the infinite customs of old Beijing, where he was born. His skillful writing and charming pen not only revealed his Chinese temperament in his bones, but also showed a full style of foreign school. The novel was adapted by Jiang Wen into the film "Evil Does not Suppress Good".
Zhang Beihai died in New York in August 2022.
