  本书回顾了维多利时代的“知识生产”光景:构建专业化的知识学科、为国民大众出版知识与探寻知识生产的价值隐喻,详细探讨的历史个案——威廉·斯塔布斯与《英国宪政史》、约翰·默里与大众旅游指南书、钱伯斯兄弟与《钱伯斯百科全书》、“疯子”迈纳医生与《牛津英语词典》、“家庭天使”与女性阅读,反映了该时代人文知识生产的不同侧影,其产生的巨大影响印证了英国中产阶级及其文化对“知识”的重新塑造,映照出19世纪英国这一“知识社会”的理念光谱,并表现出英国“知识制造工业”现代化流变的不同样态。全书围绕英国维多利亚时代的大众阅读、书籍出版、学科建立、学派发展等重要事件而展开,梳理了大众、作家、学者和出版商之间的互动共存关系,展现了当时英国崇尚科学与文明进步的社会氛围。

  作者简介

  刘松矗,男,四川成都人,四川大学历史学博士,现为成都理工大学外国语学院讲师,主要研究19世纪英美地区书籍史。2018—2019年赴英国剑桥大学历史系访问交流。曾参与国家社会科学基金重大项目“十九世纪美国工业化转型中的农村、农业和农民问题研究”、国家社会科学基金资助项目“美国工业化转型时期农民状况研究(1870—1900)”等课题,获四川大学优秀博士学位论文奖,参与并获社会科学基金项目结项优秀成果奖。

  武玉红,女,山东临沂人,四川大学历史学博士,现为成都信息工程大学马克思主义学院讲师,主要研究西方史学史与妇女史。曾参与国家社会科学基金资助项目“美国工业化转型时期农民状况研究(1870—1900)”等课题,参与并获社会科学基金项目结项优秀成果奖。

  袁曼书,女,四川乐山人,四川省社会科学院文学硕士,现为四川读者报社《育儿周刊》编辑,主要研究女性文学与当代文艺思潮。曾参与国家社会科学基金应急管理体系建设研究专项项目“围绕成功应对重大突发事件讲好中国故事研究”和2020年全国社会科学青年论坛并获奖。

About the author

Liu Songchu, male, born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Ph. D. in history from Sichuan University, is now a lecturer at the School of Foreign Languages of Chengdu University of Technology, focusing on the history of books in Britain and America in the 19th century. 2018-2019 Visit to the Department of History, University of Cambridge, UK. He participated in the major project of the National Social Science Foundation "Research on Rural areas, agriculture and Farmers during the Industrialization Transformation of the United States in the 19th Century" and the project funded by the National Social Science Foundation "Research on Farmers during the Industrialization Transformation of the United States (1870-1900)" and won the outstanding doctoral dissertation award of Sichuan University. Participated in and won the outstanding achievement award of the Social Science Fund project.

Wu Yuhong, female, born in Linyi, Shandong Province, Ph. D. in history from Sichuan University. Now she is a lecturer at the School of Marxism of Chengdu University of Information Technology. She mainly studies the history of Western history and women's history. He participated in the project funded by the National Social Science Foundation, "Research on the situation of Farmers in the Period of Industrialization Transformation in the United States (1870-1900)" and other topics, and participated in and won the outstanding achievement award of the Social Science Foundation project.

Yuan Manshu, female, born in Leshan, Sichuan Province, Master of Arts, Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, is now the editor of Sichuan Readers' newspaper "Parenting Weekly", mainly studying female literature and contemporary literary trends. He participated in the National Social Science Fund Emergency management system construction research project "Research on Telling China's Story around Successful Response to Major Emergencies" and the 2020 National Social Science Youth Forum and won awards.
