　　切斯瓦夫•米沃什（CzesławMiłosz）波兰著名诗人，散文家，文学史家。1911年出生于波兰第一共和国的立陶宛。“二战”期间在华沙从事地下反法西斯活动。“二战”后在波兰外交部供职，曾在波兰驻美国及法国使馆任文化专员和一等秘书。1950年护照被吊销，后选择了政治流亡的道路。先在法国获得居留权。1960年应邀到美国加利福尼亚大学伯克利分校任教授，1961年起定居美国。曾荣获波兰雅盖沃大学、美国哈佛大学、意大利罗马大学等近十座世界知名学府的荣誉博士学位及各种勋章。1978年获俗有小诺贝尔奖之称的诺斯达特国际文学奖。1980年获诺贝尔文学奖，瑞典文学院在对他的授奖词中说：“他在自己的全部创作中，以毫不妥协的深刻性揭示了人在充满剧烈矛盾的世界上所遇到的威胁。”2004年8月在波兰克拉科夫逝世，享年93岁。

A brief introduction to the Imprisoned Mind

This book is a classic work written in the early 1950s by Milosz, winner of the 1980 Nobel Prize in Literature, which makes a wonderful description and reflection on the situation of Poland and the Baltic people before and after World War II. Many of Milosz's insights are still strong in today's context, and even more potential and space. The hardcover edition has added a preface and epilogue to the Polish edition, with a good interpretation of the title and the text, and a better understanding of what Milosz was referring to. The hardcover edition is included in the "Literary Monuments" series (serial number 020).

About the author

Czes? awMi? osz was a famous Polish poet, essayist and literary historian. He was born in 1911 in the Polish Republic of Lithuania. Engaged in underground anti-fascist activities in Warsaw during World War II. After World War II, he served in the Polish Foreign Ministry and was Cultural attache and first secretary at the Polish embassies in the United States and France. His passport was revoked in 1950 and he chose the path of political exile. Get residency in France first. In 1960, he was invited to become a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and settled in the United States in 1961. He has received honorary doctorates and various MEDALS from nearly ten world-renowned universities such as Jagaivo University in Poland, Harvard University in the United States and University of Rome in Italy. In 1978, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Swedish Academy awarded him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1980, saying, "Throughout his writing, he has revealed with uncompromising depth the threats that man faces in a world full of acute contradictions." He died in Krakow, Poland, in August 2004 at the age of 93.
