　　白鲁诺（BrunoBelhoste），国际著名科学史家，法国巴黎第一大学教授、近代史研究所所长。曾任法国国家科学技术史学会理事、法国科学院拉瓦锡委员会委员，以及多种国际著名学术杂志或丛书编委。其研究主要集中于18—19世纪法国的科学发展，在数学史、工程学史、科学机构史等方面著述甚丰，包括《柯西：一位19世纪正统派的数学家》《近代科学史：从文艺复兴到启蒙运动》《智慧巴黎：启蒙时代的科学之都》等。

About the author

BrunoBelhoste, an internationally renowned historian of science, is a professor at the University of Paris I in France and director of the Institute of Modern History. He was a member of the French National Society for the History of Science and Technology, a member of the Lavoisier Committee of the French Academy of Sciences, and an editorial board of a variety of internationally renowned academic journals or book series. His research focuses on the development of French science in the 18th and 19th centuries, and he has written extensively on the history of mathematics, engineering, and scientific institutions, including Cauchy: an Orthodox mathematician in the 19th Century, Modern History of Science: From the Renaissance to the Enlightenment, and Smart Paris: the Scientific Capital of the Age of Enlightenment.

About the Translator

Deng Jie holds a master's degree in Art History from the University of Paris IV and a master's degree from the Higher School of Translation and Interpretation at the University of Paris III. He is currently teaching translation at the Ecole Superieure de Translation, University of Paris III, and gives regular lectures on French history and painting.
