《伦敦日记》内容简介

　　苏联驻英大使伊万·迈斯基于1932—1943年在伦敦写下一批珍贵日记，经加布里埃尔·戈罗德茨基谨严选编、作注而成书。日记中记述苏联在英的外交活动，见证了众多二战重大历史事件，由此可窥见苏联外交政策之制定、英国对参战态度之转变、战时诸人之心态等等，是一份不可多得的文献资料。日记里讲述了迈斯基与丘吉尔、劳合·乔治、韦伯夫妇等多位英国政要的交往，更以生动笔法，带人们重临议事厅的演讲现场、海军部深夜密谈的房间、空袭阴云下的伦敦街道……日记中文版特别收录中国相关内容，揭示了苏联制定对外政策过程中，中国所起的作用。

　　[苏联]伊万·迈斯基，苏联外交官、历史学家和政治家。1884年生于俄罗斯帝国基里尔洛夫波兰犹太人家庭。1903年加入孟什维克。1921年加入布尔什维克，后进入外交领域工作。1932—1943年任苏联驻英国全权大使。1943—1946年任副外交人民委员，其间参与雅尔塔会议和波茨坦会议。1953年2月被捕。1955年获释。1960年获平反。1975年在莫斯科去世。

A brief introduction to the London Diary

Ivan Maysky, the Soviet ambassador to Britain, wrote a collection of valuable diaries in London between 1932 and 1943, which were carefully selected and annotated by Gabriel Gorodtsky. The diary recorded the Soviet Union's diplomatic activities in Britain, witnessed many major historical events of World War II, from which we can glimpse the formulation of the Soviet Union's foreign policy, the change of Britain's attitude towards the war, the mentality of people during the war, etc., is a rare document. The diary tells the story of Maiskey and Churchill, Lloyd George, Webb and his wife and many other British political contacts, but also in vivid writing, bring people back to the speech scene of the Council Hall, the room of the Navy late night secret talk, the London street under the cloud of air raids... The Chinese version of the diary contains special content about China, revealing the role of China in the process of formulating Soviet foreign policy.

About the author

Ivan Mesky was a Soviet diplomat, historian, and politician. Born in Kirillov, Russian Empire in 1884 to a Polish Jewish family. He joined the Mensheviks in 1903. He joined the Bolsheviks in 1921 and later worked in the diplomatic field. He was Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Soviet Union to the United Kingdom from 1932 to 1943. From 1943 to 1946, he was deputy People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs, during which he participated in the Yalta and Potsdam Conferences. He was arrested in February 1953. He was released in 1955. He was rehabilitated in 1960. He died in Moscow in 1975.

Author's brief introduction

Gabriel Gorodsky is a Research Fellow at All Souls College, University of Oxford, Professor Emeritus at Tel Aviv University, founder and Director of the Cummings Center for Russian Studies, Visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, and honorary Doctor of the Russian State University. Specializing in history and Russian studies. He published numerous books on the history of Soviet foreign policy in the 20th century, including StaffordCripps' MissiontoMoscow,1940-1942, and Russia Between East and West: Russia's foreign policy in the 21st century (RussiaBetweenEastandWest: RussianForeignPolicyontheThresholdofthe21stCentury), etc.
