　　谷甲州，日本科幻作家、日本推理作家协会会员、日本科幻作家协会会员。1951年出生于日本兵库县，毕业于大阪工业大学土木学专业，曾在建筑公司做“现场监督”。后辞去工作，参加日本青年海外援助队前往尼泊尔，帮助当地建设工程。1979年，在工作地尼泊尔撰写的《137机动旅团》获得第2届奇想天外科幻新人赏，从而正式进入文坛。当时的笔名是“甲州”。1981年，奇想天外社出版他的第一本单行本《行星CB-8越冬队》时，在笔名里加上了源自本名的“谷”字，自此更名为“谷甲州”。

　　写作风格以硬科幻为主，还著有山岳小说、历史小说。1987年，凭借《火星铁道一九》获得第18届星云赏；1994年，凭借《无止境侦察》获得第25届星云赏；1996年，凭借《雪山之巅的男人》获得第15届新田次郎文学奖；2016年，凭借《哥伦比亚·零新·航空宇宙军史》获得第36届日本科幻大赏。他被小松左京寄予厚望，还曾和小松左京一起撰写《日本沉没Ⅱ》。

Tani Kasu is a Japanese science fiction writer, member of the Mystery Writers Association of Japan, and member of the Science Fiction Writers Association of Japan. Born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan in 1951, he graduated from Osaka Institute of Technology in Civil engineering and worked as a "site supervisor" in a construction company. After quitting his job, he joined the Japanese Youth Overseas Aid Team and went to Nepal to help with local construction projects. In 1979, the 137 Mobile Brigade, which was written in Nepal where he worked, won the 2nd Prize for New Entrants to Fantasy Science Fiction, thus officially entering the literary world. At that time, his pen name was "Gaju". In 1981, when he published his first solo book, Planet CB-8 Wintering Team, he added the word "valley" from his original name to his pen name, and since then he has changed his name to "Gu Jia State".

Writing style is based on hard science fiction, but also has mountain novels, historical novels. In 1987, he won the 18th Nebula Award for his work "Mars Railway 19". In 1994, with "Endless Reconnaissance" won the 25th Nebula Award; In 1996, he won the 15th Shin-Jiro Literature Prize for "The Man at the Top of the Snow Mountain". In 2016, he won the 36th Japan Science Fiction Award for "Columbia Zero New Aerospace Military History". He was highly expected by Sakyo Komatsu, with whom he wrote Japan Sinking II.
