Content introduction
The book follows the plight of elephants in various countries seen by two Asian elephants as they travel through Asia, with many stories and several major adventures, such as rescuing working elephants and logging elephants, encountering giant elephants in the snowy mountains of Bhutan, and crossing straits. Mostly based on real events, the story covers issues in the elephant world, such as human-elephant conflict, habitat loss and fragmentation, environmental pollution, training and harvesting of wild elephants, cruel exploitation, and trade in elephants and their products. Throughout the journey, the two elephants slowly understand the relationship between man and elephant, man and nature.
The two elephants traveled through 13 countries where the Asian elephant is found, including Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and China, and specifically South Africa, where the African elephant is found. The only thing missing from the range of Asian elephants is Borneo (Asian elephants belonging to Malaysia and Indonesia).
