上野千鹤子,多年来目睹父母关系不和、母亲为了孩子默默隐忍,以及长期处在女性被歧视的社会中。她产生了一个念头:“要是以后自己也过上这种生活,就太不划不来了。”

For years, Chizuko Ueno has seen her parents struggle, her mother endure for the sake of her children, and she has long lived in a society where women are discriminated against. A thought occurred to her: "It would not be worth living this life for myself."
Water without field airflow, "wrong" to become a mother, in the battle of parenting. She works longer hours than her husband, but manages the entire household by herself. In order to keep the family running well, she has to persuade her husband little by little, asking for his help and understanding. She often feels uneasy: "What I'm doing is not making it harder for all women to work..."

Born in 1948, she is a well-known feminist scholar.
Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, she has been criticizing the patriarchal structure in Japan since she was young. Her research interests include women's studies and gender studies.
