We live in this region called "Asia", have you ever wondered:

Why is Eurasia divided into Asia and Europe when it is clearly one continent? What is the basis of the demarcation? From the time the Europeans named "Asia" to the time when the people of this land became "Asian", what twists and turns did they go through?

Song Nianshen, a professor at Tsinghua University, told us that ancient maps are a key part of exploring the formation history of Asia and reflecting on modernity.

In his new book, Making Asia: A History on a Map, he uses hundreds of precious ancient map materials to trace the emergence, development, change, and shape of Asia (and China) on the map, while observing the presentation and expression of various power structures - capitalism, colonialism, imperialism, territorial states - in this process.
