　　薇儿•麦克德米德出生于苏格兰东部海滨小镇柯科迪。1987年出版了第一部推理小说《谋杀报道》，一举成名。此后放弃记者工作，全职写作。现在，除了写小说，麦克德米德还为一些英国报纸撰写推理小说评论，偶尔为BBC写写报道。

　　主要作品有林赛•戈登系列、凯特•布兰尼根系列、托利•希尔/卡罗尔•乔丹系列，《刑场》《遥远的回声》是其非系列最著名的作品。

About the author

Veil McDermid was born in Kirkcaldy, a seaside town in the east of Scotland. In 1987, he published his first mystery novel, The Murder Report, which made him famous. He gave up journalism to write full-time. Today, in addition to writing novels, McDermid reviews mystery fiction for several British newspapers and occasionally writes reports for the BBC.

Major works include the Lindsey Gordon series, Cate Brannigan series, Tory Hill/Carol Jordan series, "Execution Ground" and "Distant Echoes" are the most famous works in the non-series.
