皮埃尔·德里亚奇（PierreDéléage），法国人类学家，法国国家科学研究中心（CNRS）社会人类学实验室研究员。
他的研究范围包括亚马逊的沙兰纳华人的萨满教，北美原住民的书写系统的发明，科学对象化的限制等。其代表著作有：《另一种头脑：科幻作家中的人类学形象》《论矫揉造作的自然》《死去的文字》《发明书写：17-19世纪北美印第安人的先知和萨满教仪式》等。
Madness at the North Pole
This book is a representative work of reverse anthropology. The main character of the story is a French missionary, anthropologist and linguist
Emile Petito (1838-1916). One of the first anthropologists in the West, he lived near the Arctic Circle in Canada for nearly two decades and published extensive research on Aboriginal languages and customs. However, in the course of studying indigenous peoples, over time, under the influence of various indigenous languages and shamanic rituals in the Arctic, he developed persecution mania and eventually schizophrenia.
The author delves into thousands of pages of letters and memoirs left by Petitto to reconstruct the harrowing story of the missionary and early anthropologist. He takes us on a gripping journey into the illogic of an aborigine obsession against the backdrop of church policy repression and the rise of the social sciences in the 19th century, and shows, through narrative, the expansion of early anthropological knowledge accompanied by madness.
About the author
PierreDeleage is a French anthropologist and researcher at the Social Anthropology Laboratory of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).
His research interests include shamanism in the Salana Chinese of the Amazon, the invention of writing systems in Native North America, and the limits of scientific objectification. His books include: Another Mind: Anthropological Images in Science Fiction Writers, On Mannered Nature, Dead Words, and Inventing Writing: Prophetic and Shamanic Rituals of North American Indians in the 17th-19th Centuries.
