Author: Michiko Kakutani (Tani Michiko, 1955 -)

The most influential literary critic in the English-speaking world, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism and former chief book critic of The New York Times.

He was born in 1955 in Connecticut, the son of the famous mathematician Shizuo Kakutani. Kakutani graduated from Yale University in 1976, joined the New York Times in 1979, began to write commentary for the newspaper in 1983, and until her retirement in 2017, she has always adhered to the professional rules of "three no, one no" (no books, no recommendations, no money, no friends).

Kakutani's style is calm and sharp, and he is not afraid to criticize the big names in literature, but also has helped many new writers build their personal reputations. As a formidable and unpredictable reviewer, she was so influential that her name became a verb - writers used the phrase "I've been goggled" to describe their work being reviewed by Goggled, and to define their reputation in the literary world.

In 2017, Kakutani announced his retirement from his post as chief book critic of The New York Times, causing a huge shock in the foreign publishing world, and the Western media reported that "the American literary world is about to open a new chapter."
